Newent runners conquer Snowdonia trail

Newent runners braved the elements in several gruelling events.

SnowdoniaMegan James and Emily Burgess completed the Scott Snowdonia Trail Marathon, starting at Llanberis and eventually climbing Wales’ highest peak Snowdon.  They ascended 1,685m in wet, tough conditions with James finishing in 6:31.57 followed by Burgess in 7:29.05.

Susan Pritt finished the Bath Running Festival Long Half Marathon – the final event in the Beast of Bath Challenge Series – in 3:53.11, achieving fifth place in her category FV 50-59.

Four members competed in the Droitwich Sprint Triathlon where, despite wet and treacherous conditions, Jonathan Miles was first home in one hour, 21 minutes.  He was followed by Russ Dyer in 1:22 – his first triathlon event – Helen Kelly in 1:31 and Yvonne Featherstone in 1:44, although the latter took a wrong turn on the bike.

Angela Sonn represented the club at the Worcester Open meeting, finishing the 100m and 200m in 16.29 and 34.81 respectively.  Sonn then achieved a PB in the BMAF Championship at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium, clocking 15.05 in the 100m.
