On Saturday three Club members completed the Birmingham and Black Country Half Marathon. The race started from the Canal Docks in Wolverhampton and following a variety of terrain, including canal towpaths and locks, finished in Birmingham City Centre. First home was Liza Barber (FV40), who took 8 minutes off last year’s time, finishing in 2.27.52 (PB) followed by Chris Barber (V50) in 2.28.40 and Sally Taylor (FV60) whose time was unavailable at the time of print.
Four Club runners completed the Hereford Sprint Triathlon on Sunday with Jonathan Miles (MV) finishing a few minutes faster than last year, despite taking a wrong turn, in 1.11.47 followed by Julie Willis (FSV) in 1.13.57, Helen Kelly (FV ) 1.21.28 (1 minute improvement) and Yvonne Featherstone (FV) who knocked an impressive 8 minutes off last year in 1.25.04.
Susan Pritt completed the Malvern View 10K, which began and ended in Colwell, taking in impressive views of the Malvern Hills in 56.55.
Mark Cryer, who has a penchant for Ultra events, spent the weekend on the Isle of Wight, taking part in the 70 mile 2 day ”Round the Island 2016” event (part of the Sealskinz Ultra Trail Series) starting in Cowes and following the island coastal path.
